Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise …
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free …

Gorgeous photo. Looks right after a stormy night. Reminds me in a way of that problem they are having with the birds in Kentucky!
This is quite a moody image. Well done.
Thank you, Fred! Re: Birds in Kentucky … I watched a local news report last Sunday that these birds are being poisoned in Uptown Albuquerque. Coincidentally, on Monday I had to go into Albuq for a workshop and then to Uptown where I accidentally drove past a fenced lot jam packed with a gathering of blackbirds (as “Blackbird” played on the radio … how weird is that?) I had never seen so many birds in one place in my life (well except for the seagulls in Galveston.) But never that many birds in NM. And the news didn’t say anything about there being so many.
Of course I didn’t have my camera with me, so thinking about the news story and sad that they are being poisoned, I went back the next day for a photo shoot. But I had a feeling they wouldn’t be in the same place and they weren’t. (A storm did pass thru Monday night.) But just like sundown the eve before, they were flying in and gathering in a different spot. So Leo and I headed that direction (poor Leo) and found them at another mall. Only they were spread out all around the mall and in the nearby neighborhood, on the tree tops. This pic is taken from the mall parking lot. You wouldn’t know it
I know it seems cruel to poison the blackbirds but they, like pigeons, are overproducing and spreading feces all over. They are also crowding out other birds like sparrows, finches and hummingbirds, and are voracious in their appetites which limits the food supply for the smaller, less-aggressive species.
Love to you. Love your blog.

Hello Stranger! Thank you for stopping by.
When I spotted the Blackbirds on Monday I could see why people wouldn’t want them. It definitely felt like a scene from “The Birds.” But I find everything out of the ordinary interesting.
Life and nature can be cruel, but it’s so sad that people are increasingly deciding which creatures should live or die. I mean when horses have become one of those we choose to round up and kill…
You know…
I thank God that the only thing I care to shoot are photos.
